Anyway, he clears his throat warily from the cough.]

S'okay. I'm only so sleepy right after takin' it, and after waking up. S'not so bad after a little bit.

[Undertaker takes the jab about his scar in stride, at least.] Is that what you think~?

Funny you should bring that up. I was just wondering who gave you such a jump that it gave you those interesting white streaks in your hair. ^Hee hee...

Not really-- [There's a muted thud as Kid sinks back onto the floor.] Looks like y'got sliced from something sharp. On your face, that'd be from a person with a weapon, 'specially at that angle. Someone stitched it up nicely for you, though.

[That's a...rather descriptive idea about a scar from who appears to be a young teen.

As for Kid's hair, he bristles.] They're hid--hideous.

[The observation actually surprises him a bit, just because not many people speculate on how his wounds were made. At least not out loud, and not in polite company.]

Mm. [It's a noncommittal hum from him, a pause before Kid saves him from having to comment further.]

Not sure if I'd go that far... but they are curious.

That isn't an answer. Y'don't get to ask me stuff and not talk too--isn't that how you're supposed to do this?

[Kid is ordinarily polite company, and works fairly hard to do so. Unfortunately, the cough syrup is plenty to turn him into something else entirely. He's tremendously addled. Sorry.]

They're unbalanced--only wrapping halfway 'round. It's disgustingly asymmetrical!

Rules are there to be broken, you know? But if you need to know, you aren't entirely wrong.

[He tsks lightly, thinking to himself.] So that's your thing, is it? Obsessed with symmetry. That's one I haven't run into, before.

Rules don't exist to get broken. Otherwise, why bother?

[Coughing, the teen turns back to the tablet that he's set on the floor.]

It's not--not a thing--I simply prefer balance. And I would not... [He hesitates, choosing his words carefully.] Wouldn't choose obsessed. ...Dedicated, maybe?

However you want to say it doesn't matter to me. I'm obsessed with laughter, you know? [As if it wasn't very obvious.]

[He sighs, almost longing.]

I think bein' obsessed with laughter is prob'ly better, overall. Except at funerals and when people are dead--bit problematic for you, y'know.

[Wow Kid, you probably would feel better if you laughed a little.]

Of course it is. Laughter's the most precious thing in the world. [He doesn't understand why Kid doesn't just dye the white parts over, if it bothers him that much.]

And I told you, I take my job veeery seriously. I wouldn't ruin someone's last, most important day like that~

Maybe after life, mmm...can't laugh if you're dead.

[Kid has spent a lot of time and money trying the hair dye plan. Hasn't worked. Undertaker could ask Stein all about the Lines of Sanzu and their connection to the divine, their connection to the current Grim Reaper. Nope--he can't do a damn thing about them, not even here.

And yes, he could stand to laugh more.]

Good. That's good. [He sniffs, a hint of relief in his tone.] I'm glad.

Really? I think the dead laugh more at the living than you might think...

[There's a short pause as he tries to see if he can sit up again, but it's not happening. So he just rests his head next to his tablet again.]

Been to many funerals, yourself?

I don't spend lots of time 'round souls after, you know. Unless something's gone wrong--and they're not laughing.

[He coughs, the sound awkward and loud as he remains on the floor next to his tablet.]

No. I've seen lots through father's mirror, but I've not gone to too many. I've been t'some for Meisters, or Weapons, as a representative of the Academy.

[He actually speaks a bit of German, but he has a feeling that anything he might assume would be wrong.]

Let's start with Meisters.

[Clearing his throat:] A Meister is a human with th'bility to weild a Demon Weapon. Most Meisters have additional abilities, developed and preserved through th'survival of the fighter.

A Demon Weapon is a human who has the ability to transform into a weapon, as I imagine you're goin' t'ask that next.

^Hee hee... Good guess.

[He hums a bit to himself as he considers this information. As well as he can, when his thoughts are a bit more slippery than usual.]

I've never heard of anything like that, before. They're just born like that, or is it because of something that happened to them?

[Has Undertaker made a guess as to Kid's other work?]

Born...ah. It's all genetic. 'Specially being a weapon. It's a genetic trait, passed through families.

[He's working on a theory.]

Interesting... and I'm guessing that this Academy is specially dedicated to both types?

[Kid hums in agreement, rubbing his eyes.]

Mmmhm. Teaching Meisters and Weapons.

[And now comes the million dollar question.]

So where do you fit into it? If what you're claiming is true, you aren't a human.

[He still doesn't know if he completely believes it because it goes against everything he knows. But he's gotten over his knee-jerk reaction of before. Mostly.]

[Fabric shuffles as Kid shifts closer to the tablet.]

I should clarify. Demon Weapons are human in appearance but are often not technically considered as such. Furthermore, not all Meisters are human--myself included.

That still doesn't answer my question.

[He pulls his own tablet in closer, tempted to turn it to video but he resists.]

Unless there's more than one of you, and if that's the case then I'll retract that statement.

[Undertaker is missing a prime confused expression on behalf of Kid. He's entirely missed the point.]

I am a Meister, and a student in EAT class Crescent Moon...I fail to see how this doesn't answer your question.

[Too much cough syrup to put together that Undertaker wants to know what the heck the Grim Reaper is doing with a bunch of kids.]
