Really? I think the dead laugh more at the living than you might think...

[There's a short pause as he tries to see if he can sit up again, but it's not happening. So he just rests his head next to his tablet again.]

Been to many funerals, yourself?
exequies: (it's alive and well.)

There's a few words there you're going to need to explain.

[He actually speaks a bit of German, but he has a feeling that anything he might assume would be wrong.]

Let's start with Meisters.

Hee hee... Good guess.

[He hums a bit to himself as he considers this information. As well as he can, when his thoughts are a bit more slippery than usual.]

I've never heard of anything like that, before. They're just born like that, or is it because of something that happened to them?
exequies: (He's still really mad with me.)

[He's working on a theory.]

Interesting... and I'm guessing that this Academy is specially dedicated to both types?

[And now comes the million dollar question.]

So where do you fit into it? If what you're claiming is true, you aren't a human.

[He still doesn't know if he completely believes it because it goes against everything he knows. But he's gotten over his knee-jerk reaction of before. Mostly.]
exequies: (When I believed)

That still doesn't answer my question.

[He pulls his own tablet in closer, tempted to turn it to video but he resists.]

Unless there's more than one of you, and if that's the case then I'll retract that statement.

[There's a small sigh from his end.]

I mean, why is the son of Death going around socializing with humans?

[Undertaker falls silent while Kid coughs, the sound a bit worse than it had been just days prior. He wouldn't be surprised if the teen hacked up an actual lung, next.]

Hmm... [He rolls his head to the other side where he's laying, taking the tablet with him to prop it up again.]

You only observe them, but you don't collect their souls. Is that right?

[It might feel strange that Undertaker seems to be knowledgeable about soul collecting. Though the idea of a Reaper coming to take a human at the end of their life isn't an uncommon belief.]

Oh? Only technically, hm...

[He thinks. It wouldn't make sense if there isn't some sort of soul collection, but perhaps it's not the humans themselves are being taken.]

It's some sort of other soul, then.
exequies: (I buried my grandmother last year)

[personal profile] exequies 2016-11-10 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, we both take care of the dead in different ways, don't we?

[The slight shift in tone doesn't escape his notice, either. Undertaker purses his lips a bit from his end of the conversation, faint brows raising beneath his hair.]

I see.
exequies: (Too white and nerdy)

[personal profile] exequies 2016-11-11 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, it seems unavoidable. You can't stop every awful thing from happening, you know.
exequies: (And you DEFINITELY don't know anything)

[personal profile] exequies 2016-11-11 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds about right.

[There's just a hint of an ironic tone to his voice, as though he's more musing it to himself.]

Remaining a neutral party should be the most important rule to that kind of thing.
